Canoeing | Print |

We called this tour the magic tour because it shows all the different sides of this most famous of Mongolian rivers. There are some rapids, not too easy as to be boring but also not so dangerous that you have to get out of the canoe. This is your chance to see Mongolia in a truly original way.

There are wide valleys, full of animals, herders and gers but also steep canyon walls where the river rushes through. You will in fact experience every one of the major landscapes of central Mongolia and if you are a bird lover – well this trip is unsurpassed. There are eagles, vultures, ducks, geese, sparrows and rare birds only a specialist would know.

This is an outdoors tip meaning that there is no car following the river and we are taking all or supplies with us in the canoe. Those who want to may fish in the morning or the evening. Success should be high as most of the river has never been a fished. No canoing experience is needed and no special fitness. Moderate fitness and the ability to swim suffice.
All tours are your own personalised tours but we have listed below one of the more popular trips to give you an example.

With all our travels, be it a jeeptour or horsetrekking, all are focused on Mongolias natural surroundings and coming into contact with the nomadic lifestyle. You can plan to see the most beautiful monasteries of the country, even staying the night at some. In Mongolia’s countryside you can focus on birds and animals, visit the most beautiful lakes, with rare birds such as cranes, avocets, hoopoes, whooper swans thrive and nest, or to mountain cliffs where eagles, vultures, hawks are to be seen. Or you can visit places with beautiful wild flowers, orchids, wild roses, and lilies.

Mongolia is a beautiful destination with many adventure opportunities. Tseren Travel are pleased to be your guide and help you plan your trip. Trekking | Print |

Trekking (hiking) is not as traditional as horsetrekking, but there are plenty of places to participate in multiple day treks. We organize treks especially in the mountain areas of Khangai and Altai. You walk through valleys with friendly nomads; pass through high mountain passes with spectacular views of snow clad mountains, and pass by clear blue sky reflected in mountain lakes. Similar to the horsetrekking programme, we provide an experienced local guide together with a guide/cook/translator. The local guide will bring pack animals so you don’t need to carry your own luggage. All tours are your own personalised tours but we have listed below one of the more popular treks to give you an example.

Horse Trekking | Print |

Over 800 years ago, Mongolian warriors conquered half the known world on horseback, and still all the families today use horses to perform daily work.

Traveling around with horses and tents is probably the best way to travel in Mongolia. Mongolian horses are quiet, small but very strong. We work together with the best local horsemen; some of them have been honoured and have won medals for the best horsemanship in the country at the  Nadaam Festival for their skills. A locally experienced horseman will always accompany you as guide. Additionally, we also provide a guide/cook/translator who will also accompany you on your horse trek.

We provide our own Western style leather saddles, however the Mongolians prefer their traditional wooden saddles. You may try either! Luggage will be transported by pack horses, but in some areas it could be camels or yaks.

It is a little easier if you have experience in horse riding, but it is not necessary. Even people who have never ridden horses before can handle a horse after two days, and even gallop – we can arrange for pre-trip lessons if you wish.

Most of our horsetrekking is in the Khentii and Khangai mountains, but it is possible to choose other regions, please just ask. Usually, due to the logistics of transportation to and from the start of your journey and your destination these tours are combined with jeep tours to get you there and back.

Jeep Tours | Print |

You travel (1-3 persons plus guide & driver) with a sturdy 4WD Russian jeep, or (4-6 persons plus guide & driver) in a 4WD Russian minivan. For a small surcharge you can hire a luxury jeep, for example a Toyota Landcruiser or a Mitsubishi Pajero. These cars belong to local Mongolian drivers, they are experienced drivers and mechanics and know the countryside routes intimately which are often little more than track this is a standard requirement in a country with very few paved roads and no signposted directions!  You will be accompanied by a guide/cook, who will also act as translator.  Most of our translators/guides are English speaking, but we also have German, Japanese, Spanish, French, Russian and Dutch speaking guides. Please just ask for your needs.

Our guides are trained by Tseren Tours directly and have been through classroom and field training programmes arranged by ourselves.

Once underway on your adventure you will camp; entirely appropriate in a country full of nomads. The guide/cook will arrange the meals and the necessary shopping for supplies. You may also contribute food if you want special snacks, beers and so on. It is always possible to stay the night with nomadic families – you are likely to either stay with them in their ger or stay in a seperate ger depending upon the size of the family. This is a fantastic experience. Although all our tours are personalised for you we have listed below one of the more popular routes to give you an example.
