This is the least visited part of Mongolia. The landscape is open and wide with stretching flat steppe. Here you have a true wilderness, with huge herds of gazelles and lakes with very rare extraordinary birds, including avocet, cranes, rare duck and other waterfowl. Further south near the border with China is a holy mountain for the Mongolians, an extinct volcano which rises suddenly from the plains.
