The Gobi Desert

A mystical world filled with exotic landscapes, unique animals and extraordinary people. A place that will truly surprise and amaze you.

The Gobi is a harsh but diverse environment with sand dunes, rocky expanses and surprising lush spots. It is generally sparsely populated but Nomads still travel around the Gobi with their herds of  horses, goats, sheep, and of course camels.

Wild animals such as gazelles, argali goats, antelopes, desert bear and snow leopards also inhabit the Gobi, alongside eagles, vultures, cranes that descend upon the few lakes for a quick refill whilst en route to or from summer breeding grounds.

  • Driving through the Yolin Am, a canyon steeped in snow and ice throughout the year.
  • Trekking through the world’s highest sand dunes  on camels.
  • Following the trails of the salt lakes, on an almost 4000 meter high road at Ih Bogd Uul.
  • Walking alongside the glaciers and spectacular forests lining the Khangai mountains.
  • Spending time with the legendary nomadic camel herders of the Gobi.

In this apparent arid landscape, deep fresh-water wells and a few salt lakes somehow manage to sustain thriving levels of life. Animals and people alike survive in this unforgiving environment. Despite its scortching summer heat, there are still patches of snow left over from the winter to be found in deep mountain passes. The Gobi is a mystical destination truly out of this world!
